79. Beauty Pagent in Gulag
矯正労働収容所で美人コンテスト

驚くことに、（ロシアの）シベリアには、いまだに厳重セキュリティーの刑務所がいくつか運営されており、なんとその大半が女性の刑務所。　さらに少なくともその中の１ヶ所で美人コンテストが行われており、囚人達は（シベリアですることなくて暇をしているので）、毎年早めに取り組むそうです。



ちょっと魔女コンテストっぽいですが。。。

Russia still operates a number of high security prisons in Siberia? What’s more, many of the prisons are for women only. At least one of the prisons holds an annual (2) beauty pageant in which the (3) inmates compete for early release!

カラカラ = cubone
(アメリカでのポケモンの名前：　キューボーン）

Cubone appears to be a small brown dinosaur-like Pokémon, that constantly wears a skull (supposedly the skull of its mother) like a helmet, which masks its true face from view. It carries another bone, which it uses to attack with moves like Bone Club.

キューボーンは小さな恐竜のようなポケモンで、いつもヘルメットのように頭蓋骨を被っており（お母さんのらしいですが）、素顔を隠しています。手にもうひとつの骨を持ち攻撃に使います。

Orange County deputies arrested 38-year-old Julian Burnett after he (1) slammed a red dump truck into a home on Pinto Way in the Pine Hills area, Wednesday. They said the crash was the violent end to a (2) fight with a family member.

(1) blame A　for B =　Ａ　を　Ｂ　に関して咎める、非難する

（例）　I never blame everyone but myself！
自分の落ち度だけはみとめませんから！

（例）　Don't blame me for how your life turned out. You are pissing me off!
君の人生が変わったことでオレを責めるなよ。ホント、ムカつくやつだな！
You piss me off = You make me mad の悪い言い方。
目上の人に言わないほうがよいでしょう。


(2) ｆｌｙ through the air = 空中を飛ぶ

(例）　Ｇｒａｎｐａ centipede said, "I love the fact that ground-hugging insects like us figured out a way to fly through the air." Then, the lady bug said quietly, "I don't think you guys can fly."

ムカデ爺さんは言いました。「我々のような地をはう虫が空を飛ぶ方法まで考え出したという事実は、素晴しいことじゃ。」 するとテントウ虫が「あなたたちは空を飛べないと思いますけど...」とつぶやきました。

PLAISTOW, N.H. (AP) - Police said the same man (1)tried to rob the same bank, wearing the same clothes and telling (2)employees the same thing on Tuesday as he did two weeks ago. The outcome was not the same.

Two weeks ago, the (3)robber got away with cash from the Sovereign Bank branch. On his second attempt, tellers (4)refused to give him money and he took off empty-handed.

Police and bank employees said it was the same guy. The robber said he had a gun and demanded money both times.

The robbery was committed in the morning and the robber has been arrested. The man armed with a knife carried out three robberies within 3 days .
強盗事件は朝起き、犯人は逮捕された。ナイフを持った犯人は3日間で3回も強盗を働いたもよう。

(4) Refuse to 〜 = 〜を拒否する
She refused to comment on the issue.
その件に関して彼女はコメントを拒否した。
